Kirk Hallam Site – Assessment & Progression Team

At Esteem Valley Academy, our Assessment & Progression Team (APT) is committed to delivering high-quality, effective, and inclusive alternative educational pathways for students who require additional support. Based at our Kirk Hallam site, our APT provide a blended curriculum, combining 1:1 support and access to both internal and external Alternative Provision (AP) to ensure each student receives a personalised education tailored to their needs.

All APT students follow individual timetables, receiving 1:1 guidance at our Kirk Hallam site, in their homes, or another appropriate setting, along with up to three days of AP. This approach allows students to engage in both academic and vocational qualifications, developing practical skills that support their transition into further education, training, apprenticeships, and employment. To uphold high educational standards, all alternative education providers in our programme undergo rigorous quality assurance.

Our 1:1 sessions focus on Functional Skills qualifications in English, Maths, and , with personal, social, and emotional development woven throughout their learning journey. This ensures students are well-prepared for their time at Esteem Valley Academy and beyond.

Our APT has now expanded its role by integrating the initial response programme previously carried out by our IPT (Integrated Pathways Team). This means APT provide 6th-day support for students who have been permanently excluded, conducting baseline assessments to understand each student’s needs and signposting them toward the most suitable pathway —whether transitioning to our Bennerley or Sawley sites, or Kirk Hallam sites, or another educational setting.

By merging APT and IPT, we have strengthened our ability to offer comprehensive, personalised, and seamless support, ensuring that every student at Esteem Valley Academy experiences ‘A Culture of Success’ that empowers them to thrive.
